Erica Saffer is an accomplished writer, educator, storyteller, and literary arts advocate from Jacksonville, Florida, where she resides with her three children. Her experimental short fiction employs the use of form and structure to create hidden narratives, while her longer form narrations layer story with unforgettable characters and unique voice.
Her written works have been published in print through anthologies and chapbooks, and online. She is currently finishing her debut novel, Love and Loss on the Lido Deck. She is an accomplished storyteller, having appeared on the Florida Theater stage at Untold Stories: Out of the Swamp, and appearing regularly as a storyteller at Babs’ Lab. She is currently working as a full-time writer, training specialist, grant consultant, and curriculum developer, and is Director of the JaxbyJax Literary Arts Festival.
She received a grant from the American Federation of Teachers to build Diverse Classroom Libraries in Duval County and has received a generous grant given in part by Alternate ROOTS, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundations, and the Ford Foundation to fund the Last Sunday Sessions, a free-to-the-public literary arts outreach program that occurs monthly at Cork Arts Studios.
She has partnered with organizations like 904ward, MomsRising, Women Writing for (a) Change, and the St. Augustine PoetFest to bring literary initiatives to the audiences of Jacksonville. She is currently participating in the Conscious Feminine Leadership Training (CFLT) with Women Writing for (a) Change.
